Team Leader John Powell expects continued top five success with Mike Weinberg and Altenburg.
"We felt it best to run the #02 team Corvette at the first race with the same drivers as we did last year." Powell said today " So Stu Hayner was in the car at Daytona. Mike Weinberg has steadily improved, and as he has gotten more comfortable with the #02 Corvette he has done a great driving job. Looking for nothing less than podium finishes fall season long, we are pleased Mike did so well in Alabama finishing 2nd. Jeff was unable to drive at that race because of a schedule conflict so Andy Lally drove with Mike on a one time basis. Now Jeff is confirmed for the balance of the season."
Jeff Altenburg has raced successfully in SCCA national club championships, the SCCA Pro Racing Trans Am championship (Rookie of the year in 2000) and World Challenge. Jeff is 17th in Grand Am Cup points after racing in just three of five races so far this year. Co-driver Mike Weinberg is 9th. Six races remain in the 11 race Grand Am Cup Schedule.
